Civillian Profile

Name: Ruth Phelps
Name Meaning: 'Ruth' means 'compassionate friend' in Hebrew; her parents got it from the Bible.
Sex: Female
Birthday: September 29th
Age: 17
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Chestnut (waist-length)
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 100lb

Body Build: Slight and coltish
Blood Type: AB
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Favourite Gemstone: Jade
Favourite Food: Chocolate
Least Favourite Food: Beetroot
Favourite Subjects: Mathematics
Least Favourite Subjects: Bible study (but don't tell her parents that)

Favourite Activities & Hobbies: Reading, writing, worshipping mooning over emulating Kalani. She wants to study martial arts, but has never been allowed (although Kalani has taught her some self-defence techniques). She plans to try to find a kenjutsu school to learn how to use the Orihalcon Blade better.
Future Goals: For the moment, to get out from under her parents' influence and protect/be near Kalani
Strengths: Intelligent, loyal, analytical and determined
Weaknesses: Low self-esteem, tendency to emulate others rather than form her own opinions, tendency toward laziness
Personality: Ruth still tends to default to being accomodating and not contradicting people unless she has a strong reason not to. She usually approaches problems slowly to the point of indecisiveness, which is a product of her shyness and her innately logical mind. Although very intelligent on an intellectual level, she often plays this down if it might make her unpopular.

Current History: Ruth's family, who are strict evangelical Christians, moved to Hawaii from Oklahoma two and a half years ago. She had been homeschooled all her life and had a terrible start at high school, being teased for her shyness and 'brainiac' status. This only got worse when she was moved up a year in maths classes. Fortunately, the move brought her into contact with Kalani, who came to Ruth's aid on several occasions and impressed her with her no-nonsense, assertive personality. The two became close friends, and Kalani eventually confided in Ruth about her secret identity and (to her delight) sought her help in her conflict with the dangerous cultists.
Ruth found the Orihalcon Blade and discovered her identity as the Orihalcon Guardian just after Kalani left for Japan. Driven to join her friend, she studied frantically to win a scholarship to Mugen Gakuen, virtually blackmailed her parents into letting her go, and found herself swept away to Marin City along with all the other assorted Senshi.
Ruth idolizes Kalani, who finds the attention rather embarassing but tolerates it as a means of helping Ruth become more assertive and self-assured (and helping her break away from the stifling, narrow-minded worldviews of her parents). It is quite possible that Ruth is actually in love with Kalani, but she hasn't mentioned the idea to anyone, and has barely even acknowledged it herself - her parents really would go absolutely spare at the very thought.

Senshi Profile

Senshi Name: Sailor Orihalcon (named after Argus' moon, a high-iron-content asteroid)
Realm of Influence: Metal
Colours: Dark green and metallic grey
Outfit: Her collar, boots, bodysuit, skirt and bow are dark green with steel-coloured decoration at the edges. The bodysuit is backless; metallic ribbons form a criss-cross pattern down her back and along her arms. The skirt is the usual length (i.e. scandalously short) at the front, but falls to two ankle-length swallowtails at the back like an old-fashioned coat. Instead of a tiara, she wears a simple steel circlet with a band that extends over the top of her head. A sheath for the Orihalcon Blade can materialize on her back at need.

Transformation Item: The Orihalcon Blade (see below)
Transformation Phrase: "Orihalcon Guardian Power, Make Up!"
Transformation Sequence: She holds the Orihalcon Blade's miniaturized form in front of her with her hands cupped, and it floats upward. With a metallic chime, the sword assumes its full size, and her regular clothing disappears. The sword's sheath then unravels into a mass of metallic and dark green ribbons which flow over and around her and coalesce into her outfit. Her coronet manifests with a second chime to end the sequence as she grasps the Orihalcon Blade with her right hand.

Strengths: Tactically minded and analytical; extremely determined. Her attacks make her good at teaming up with other Senshi (immobilizing enemies for them to attack, driving back hordes of lesser attackers), as well as delivering killing blows to major threats in dire need.
Weaknesses: Orihalcon is still learning how to use her powers and particularly how to fight with her sword (with help from the memories contained within it). This makes her rather unreliable and accident-prone in combat.
Weapons: The Orihalcon Blade, the traditional weapon of the Orihalcon Guardian. It contains the memories of all the past Orihalcon Guardians, and takes a form suited to its current owner; in its current incarnation, it looks much like a katana with a jade-green inlay pattern on the blade and hilt. It can also assume a keyring-like miniature form for greater portability.

Name of Attack: Steel Web
--What it looks like: The ribbons on one of her arms unwrap from it and grow enormously in length, entangling the target.
--Damage or Effect: The target is unable to move unless it can break free from the steel ribbons or work its way out of them.
--Accuracy/Effectiveness: Very accurate, but forces Sailor Orihalcon to use one hand to hold onto the target. If it is strong enough, it may be able to pull her over or towards itself, or even throw her around.
Name of Attack: Steel Rain
--What it looks like: Hundreds of metal splinters materialize around Sailor Orihalcon, then shoot out in a deadly shower in the desired direction.
--Damage or Effect: The splinters are very sharp, so they cause small but deep puncture wounds on unprotected flesh and can pierce thin armour layers. One splinter is merely painful and irritating; several dozen hits can cause serious blood loss.
--Accuracy/Effectiveness: The attack covers a wide area, so a human-sized target will only be hit by a fraction of the splinters (but it is very hard to avoid them all).
Name of Attack: Spirit Strike
--What it looks like: Her sword glows blinding white as she charges and slashes her opponent. Nothing appears to have happened for a moment after she passes them, then whatever part of them she slashed simply falls neatly apart along the cut. At least, that's what's supposed to happen...
--Damage or Effect: Depends on where Sailor Orihalcon manages to slash her opponent. Anything hit will generally be sliced apart perfectly, so a good cut to the head or torso will be fatal.
--Accuracy/Effectiveness: As Sailor Orihalcon is still learning how to use her sword properly, she has rather poor accuracy with this attack, and tends to miss completely or only remove a limb/appendage instead of destroying the target much of the time. It is quite draining to her, so making repeated attacks and hoping one will land on target is not a very good option.

Past History: The Senshi of Orihalcon, Argus' moon, was traditionally the bodyguard (and often the consort, in name or in fact) of the Argus Senshi. The Orihalcon Guardians developed a means of passing down their knowledge to their successors by storing memories in the Orihalcon Blade. When the last inhabitants of Argus were close to death, the Eye of Argus and Orihalcon Blade were sent through space together to Earth, so that when the next Senshi of those planets were born there, they would have access to their heritage and be able to fight together as their predecessors had.
Unfortunately, the two items were separated as they lay hidden in the ground by a volcanic eruption, so that when Kalani found the Eye in its ring form, the Blade was still buried. It remained undisturbed until several years later when it was finally unearthed by a landslide and found by Ruth.
