Civillian Profile
Name: Damian HughesName Meaning: Watcher of Spirits
Sex: Male
Birthday: July 3
Age: 27
Appearance: Damian's eyes are dark blue, his hair is dirty blonde and long enough that he has it back in a short ponytail. He also has some facial scruff (ala Aragorn at Helm's Deep) on the days he hasn't shaved for meetings. He's tall (6'4") and thin to the point of being borderline underweight.
Personality: Hughes is generally rather unstable. Inside the Moirae Transportation building he is surprisingly calm (he believes it's "his good place") and can manage the business easily. Outside of it, no one would recognize him. He's twitchy and afraid of seeing things most people don't, as well as fearful of another panic attack. Damian, outside of work, is very distrustful of others and will hermit himself in his house or buildings that he likes. On the other hand, he's terrified of old buildings, since they usually give him flashbacks.
Strengths: Rich, can see ghosts, when in his building has a commanding, calm presence and knows how to run his business. Can speak German and Japanese.
Weaknesses: Has agoraphobia, smokes cigarettes, an oral fixation and post-traumatic stress disorder. He becomes extremely jittery if outside and occasional flashbacks from his PTSD.
Future Goals: He rarely plans into the future. He lives life on a day to day basis.
Special Abilities: He can see dead people. It's a constant source of trauma for him nowadays, especially since he noticed they try and talk to him, but he can't hear them.
Favorite Gemstone: Doesn't like gems very much, but likes gold.
Favorite Food: Hasenpfeffer- German rabbit stew.
Activities & Hobbies: Smoking, drawing designs for various transport vehicles.
Occupation: CEO of Moirae Transportation
Current History: Damian and his twin Than were originally born to Rachel and Arnold Hughes. For the first five years of their lives, the twin boys were inseparable, and neither thought there was anything unusual about themselves, except for the fact that Than told Damian he sometimes heard people saying strange things. The family traveled across Europe for those years of his life, not settling anywhere in particular.
Then, when he was five, his parents received a letter, informing them that Arnold's father, Hans, had recently suffered a stroke. Immediately, they traveled to his house in rural Germany. After a talk with him, the family realized he wouldn't get a nurse like the doctor had advised, nor would he leave his house. They decided the best option was to live and take care of him. This was how the stable life of living in one place started.
It was while living with his grandfather that Damian realized both he and his twin could see ghosts. The difference between their powers was that while Damian could only see them, Than could hear them as well. Through these spirits that they called friends, the twin brothers gradually separated from one another. They started to play without one another, and did not feel obliged to constantly keep the other company.
One day, when the boys were ten and playing, "by themselves", Damian decided to play a game of chase with a small female ghost. They ran out to an abandoned farmhouse that was quite a distance from his grandpa's house, and discovered something horrifying. His twin was lying on the floor, mutilated. Horrified, he ran from the house in panic and back to his own. It took his parents another day until they realized that his twin was missing.
They went out searching for the next week and finally found his body on Sunday. Strangely, neither his father nor his mother ever outright told him that Than was dead. They decided that since he had been unusually quiet that week he already knew he was gone from some sort of inner intuition.
Finding his brother dead is what basically caused his PTSD, his attacks usually consisting of his brother standing in the middle of the room, a rotting, mutilated corpse that still breathed. Damian could never really decide if it was his brother's ghost or his own hallucinations. He never told his parents, and tried to stay away from people whenever he had a panic attack or a sudden flashback.
As soon as possible he left the house with all the haunting memories and the invisible people and went to college, majoring in engineering and minoring in business. It kept his mind off of his problems. After taking up some Japanese classes in his college, he started up a business in Japan, far away from his hometown. Eventually, it grew into a decent sized transportation business and he moved to Marin City, which had far more tax cuts than other cities as well as a need for various wheeled vehicles. So he started up a new building for his company Moirae Transportation in Marin City, with plenty of money to fund the pay of new workers and advertisement.
