Least Favorite Foods: Beans, fried eggs, squid, overly spicy food.
Favorite Subjects: Foreign studies.
Least Favorite Subjects: Physical education and math.
Favorite Activities and Hobbies: Online RPGs, fashion design, poetry, listening to CDs. She's passionately fond of several singers and bands.
Least Favorite Activities: Housecleaning, cooking, math.
Strengths: No matter what, Meiko will finish whatever she's started and make sure she does the job well, in school or in life.
Weaknesses: Meiko is quite lonely and uncertain of herself, always wondering if she really does cast a shadow over everything, as her classmates and peers say, which can lead to days or even weeks of apathy. She finds it hard to get excited about several events or things outside her interests.
Personality: Shy, solemn, extremely under-confident and reserved, but not without tenderness if something touches her heart just right. While online, though, Meiko is a lot more sociable and relaxed, since no one actually knows who she is or why she struggles with herself. It's a lot easier to be pleasant when it's just words on a screen. If she had more self-confidence in person, Meiko would be a charming conversationalist; her vocabulary is quite extensive and mature for someone her age, simply because she loves languages and words, written or spoken or sung.
Current History: Meiko is simply trying to make her way through life and find something other than her favorite pastimes to be happy with and excited about. This is partly due to her parents, Koushiro and Chigako: They mean well, but in trying to find out what could cause her apathetic moods, they seemingly have started forgetting she is a child who needs their love and not a problem to be fixed. Meiko really wants their affection and attention, but when therapies can't pin down the exact problem in a child, it can get frustrating. Akari, Meiko's fourteen year-old little sister, does not help matters any, simply because she has such confidence and flair in everything she does, which can easily divert her parents' attention to her at any time. Meiko feels overshadowed by Akari, even though she loves her sister very much and doesn't want to overshadow her.
It is possible being a Senshi will give Meiko the strength she needs to grow and change. Meiko first began dreaming of a satellite that had never existed in known history when she was fourteen, but only recently that she roused from a particularly vivid dream to find her transformation wand in her hand and a new goal in her mind.

Transformation Sequence: A shadow passes over Eclipse, covering her whole body from her toes to the tips of her hair, as her eyes close. Then, points of the darkness fade away, leaving behind pieces of fuku and accessories until she's completely changed. Eclipse opens her eyes and tilts her face to the sky, right arm folded under her breasts, left hand gripping on her right shoulder.
Fighting Style: Defensive.
Strengths: Sailor Eclipse has the drive and determination to prove herself worthy of being a Senshi, and is willing to take any risk to protect the people around her, be they civilian or fellow Senshi. She is also capable of storing a large amount of power to be released in short bursts in battle, as her attacks or sudden spurts of energy to bolster her endurance.
Weaknesses: Sailor Eclipse is willing to take any risk to protect the people around her, be they civilian or fellow Senshi. She can't release a lot of power at once, and if her resources are completely drained, it can take up to four days to "recharge", which is best done by spending a few hours in shadowy places.
Weapons: A silver armband, decorated by a stylized black sun at the center, flanked by four oval, purple gems. This is the Eclipse Shield.
Name Of Attack: Shadows' Protection.
--What it looks like: The wristband generates a translucent, dark purple force field of any size to protect Sailor Eclipse or her fellow Senshi.
-Damage Or Effect: Capable of deflecting a great deal of force.
Name Of Attack: Veil Of Shadows.
--What it looks like: A giant shadow that falls from the sky to blanket a chosen area up to a mile in diameter.
--Damage Or Effect: Plunges the area into almost complete darkness for as long as Sailor Eclipse chooses. This is a good technique to use when a tactical retreat is needed.
Past History: The heavily-shielded colony of Eclipse was responsible for directing solar energy to various planets in order to power the establishments there. The population was always small, and no one ever expected a child to be born with a starseed, seeing as Eclipse was basically just a battery, albeit a very important one. The child was cherished and given a good education, preparing her to join the ranks of the beloved Senshi.
But satellites eventually break down, and an evacuation of Eclipse was needed while Eclipse Two was being built. The former employees had to focus on finding new homes and new jobs in the meantime, and the child left her dreams of being a Senshi behind.
Mission: To prove her worth as a Senshi and become a true protector.

Interview
At first, I wanted to bring in three characters, all half sisters with last names involving death, based on the legend of Amaterasu Omikami, Japan's sun goddess: One for the sun, the coarse and aggressive Sailor Sol, senshi of purification and light; the next being Sailor Gaia for the Earth, the senshi of forgiveness and healing, a girl who tells lies and denies herself for the people she loves. The last was Sailor Eclipse, senshi of darkness and despair, a very unhappy girl who didn't want to be a villain, but felt she had no choice in the matter. Eclipse was chosen for OSW when Charon's player said Sol and Gaia had powers and concepts very similar to two already approved characters.
I chose original characters because canon Senshi weren't allowed, and since I created them, I wouldn't have to worry if they'd be OOC at any time.
Since my own RP idea, Kamigami no Saga, was a royal flop, (shrug) I took Meiko Hizuki's original incarnation for use because the only other Senshi associated with a form of darkness was Sailor Argus. Formerly, Meiko was Meiko Eimin in Kamigami no Saga, but making her an unwilling villain in OSW didn't seem appropriate, so instead I kept the unhappiness and made her someone desperate to prove and improve herself.
Because eclipses were often seen as omens of doom in old days, Meiko Eimin was created. However, in Wendy and Richard Pini's "ElfQuest", an eclipse in the desert was seen as protection from the worst of the scorching sun when it was needed most. I built on that and made Meiko Hizuki a protector with a purely defensive fighting style.
I think Meiko has a lot of room to grow as a character and truly become a brave, bold, valiant protector: She just needs the right chance and motivation, and she's found that in her new friend Shizuka, and the fact innocent bystanders shouldn't be collateral damage when youma decide to ruin things.
