Being someone who wasn't a heavy reader besides occasional fantasy and science fiction novel, Shizuka was nervous to be in a book store, especially the section for translated classics. She wanted to get her friend Hiroyuki something to celebrate the recent passing of his exams and remembered him saying something about really wanting a translated copy of some novel written by "Jien Aosuten" or something like that. She scoured the shelves to find said book, but wasn't having much luck.

But Shizuka wasn't one to give up. Even when such a name didn't seem quite right to the book keeper, the brunette continued to look. Finally, the shining hardback cover of a book whose author was written in about the same kana as the author she was looking for. Unfortunatly, it was way up on the top shelf. Then again, Shizuka had found what she wanted, and the fact it was a couple feet above arm's reach wasn't going to deter her. She stepped up onto one of the lower shelves and continued climbing until she could finally pull the book off of the shelf.

However, as most people probably know, bookshelves are not meant to hold the weight of people. The shelf started to make strange creaky noises, and Shizuka's already terrible balance was made worse with her trying to scramble down. She fell, taking the top and third shelves with her. When she finally landed, she was covering her head from the rain of books dropping down. The brunette unburied herself, paid for the book, and ran before anyone else noticed the disaster area she had made of the translated classics section.

Waiting outside the cram school gate, Shizuka held onto the wrapped book. She had a couple lumps on her head and bruises on her arms and legs from the heavy books, which explained Hiroyuki's greeting to her.

"Wow, what happened to you? Are you okay? You look like you got beat up or something." Hiro said, glancing over her.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine! Good, great and awesome!" Shizuka said, giving a sort of half-hearted smile. She bowed and held out her gift to him, "Here you go."

"What's that?"

"It's a gift for passing your exams. Please take it!"

"Oh, you didn't have to trouble yourself with a gi-" He suddenly stopped when he realized what she had gotten him. It was the book he'd been wanting. With a few sounds that sounded like either hyperventalation or squeaking, he suddenly grabbed Shizuka and picked her up, swinging her around in elation. "YOU'RE THE GREATEST! THE BEST! YOU'RE SO AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL THAT I DO NOT KNOW OF WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT! IF YOU MERELY ASKED IT, I WOULD BECOME A PERSONAL FOOTSTOOL FOR YOU!"

"Th-thank you." Shizuka said, blushing and getting dizzy from the spinning. At least he liked the gift.
